| Restructuring of Syllabus for RTM Nagpur University |

One day workshop on restructuring of syllabus of the subject Engineering Mechanics of B.E. First year and restructuring of scheme of examination of B.E.(civil) programme has been organized by RTM Nagpur University at Nuva College of Engineering & Technology, Kalmeshwar-Katol road Nagpur on 9th April 2009. The main objective of the workshop was to upgrade and reform the syllabus in view of semester pattern to be adopted by the university from June 2009 from first year onward for engineering courses.
Workshop received overwhelming response from the academic fraternity. Delegates from almost all engineering colleges affiliated to RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur attended the workshop.
The workshop was inaugurated at the hands of Mr. Sarang Raut, Director Operation of Nuva College of Engineering & Technology, Nagpur. He has extended his blessings for the success of the workshop. While speaking on this occasion, Dr. J.F.Agrawal, Principal of Nuva College stressed the importance of practical application rather than mere theory in the curriculum of engineering. He urged the participants to develop a technology that can build a low cost housing for the rural India.
Prof. D.R Raut, Vice-Principal and coordinator of the workshop stressed the need of definite and decisive objectives to be taught in engineering. He also added the defining branch wise syllabus right from first year and inclusion of internship at work site in sixth semester for better exposure to budding engineers. This proposal vote-a-voice appreciated by the participants.
Prof. S. A. Dhale, Chairman of Board of Studies and convenor of the workshop highlighted the contents of the core committee meeting held on 4th April 2009 at RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur and hailed the efforts taken by them in framing the proposed scheme of examination in B.E. Civil program.
On behalf of the core committee two proposals were presented in the workshop. The proposal was presented by Prof. Prashant Bokare, Dean (Academics), BDCE, Sevagram, Wardha. In his proposal he elaborated the global challenges before the civil engineers and remedies to cop up with these problems. He demands the urgent need of up gradation of syllabus in relevance with the globalization and modernization.
Continuing the discussion Prof. Vargees, KDK College of Engineering, Nagpur has put forwarded the second proposal with minor reshuffling in current curriculum.
Keeping in view of current scenario most of the delegates emphasized the compatible syllabus which will enhance the applicability and employability of civil engineers in the global market.
The members of core committee Prof S. R. Choudhary, Member, BOS, Prof D. R. Raut, Prof Prashant Bokare, Prof D. P. Singh, Prof Valson Vargis, Dr P. B. Nagarnaik and Dr.N.V.Deshpande were prominently present on this occasion.
After day long deliberation, the delegates and core members of the syllabus restructuring unanimously accepted the proposal to continue existing syllabus of Engineering Mechanics with minor changes. Regarding scheme of examination of Civil Engineering the core committee has entrusted to finalize the details keeping the concerns of delegate present in workshop.
Prof. Debashis Bhoumick anchored the programme and Prof. D.R.Raut, Vice-Principal of the Nuva college proposed the vote of thanks. He has extended his gratitude to Dr. D.K.Agrawal, Dean (Engg. &Tech.) in reshaping curriculum of engineering and technology, and giving opportunity to organized the workshop.
Prof. Tushar Shende, Prof. Arvind Bodhe, Prof. Prakash Dopte, Dr.C.S.Burande, Prof. Dey and Ms. Smita Petkar of Nuva College of Engineering and Technology took painstaking effort for success of this programme. |
